How Izix turned a messy backlog into a clear roadmap

Izix builds smart software to manage complex parking lots, think about multiple tenants, floors, and locations all under one roof. Their platform handles reservations, opens gates, and tracks occupancy.

But the company didn’t start that way. Originally part of BePark, a company renting out parking spaces, Izix was spun out to focus purely on software. The mission was clear. The roadmap? Not so much.

Everyone had ideas, and everything felt urgent. The product team was growing, but priorities were shifting weekly. With no clear process in place, the team kept getting pulled in different directions.

How we helped

  1. We mapped the current way of working
We sat down with the team to understand how product had been managed so far and where it was heading. The picture was clear: too many priorities competing for attention, and no shared direction.

  2. We put communication lines in place
We introduced regular check-ins, weekly insight reviews and monthly updates, across CSM, product, engineering and leadership. We also brought visibility with Productboard to keep everyone on the same page.

  3. We built a prioritisation process that stuck
By collecting insights from sales and support, we scored and grouped them into initiatives, then mapped them onto a realistic roadmap. Most importantly, we focused on how to communicate that plan and get buy-in across the company.

What changed (and why it matters)

  • A clear 6-month roadmap is now in place
Everyone knows what’s coming. Engineers can focus. No more constant context switching.

  • Support and engineering are under less pressure
A defined release process helped reduce back-and-forth and unplanned work.

  • A Head of Product was hired and onboarded smoothly
With structure already in place, they could step in and continue the momentum.

Smooth Sailing didn’t just point out what was wrong — they rolled up their sleeves and helped us structure the messy beginning of our start-up. They brought clarity and calm to a very hectic time, and that made all the difference.

Ahoy!
